Jack Rodwell still on Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's radar - report
According to a report in The Times, Sir Alex Ferguson will - over the course of the next six months - be stepping-up his chase for the versatile Englishman as Rodwell continues to dazzle in Everton's first-team.
United may be facing a losing battle in keeping Nemanja Vidic at the club, as the Serbian stopper continues to be linked with a transfer to Spain; and a move for Rodwell - whom Ferguson has oft deemed a potential replacement for Rio Ferdinand in the past - could soften the blow of losing Vidic.
Rodwell signed a five-year deal in February, though, and will therefore command a weighty price-tag.
Sir Alex Ferguson, meanwhile, appears resistant to any winter window move.
"I'm in the same position as I was in the summer. Given the prices being asked, I just do not see the value."
United have also been linked with a move for Napoli star Marek Hamsik. The £25 million-rated midfielder emerged as a key player on the international scene and helped guide Slovakia to World Cup qualification.
