Manchester United reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been approached about becoming manager at Viking in his homeland of Norway.
A report in Norwegian newspaper Stavanger Aftenposten claims that Solksjaer is on a shortlist of candidates to take over from Uwe Rosler, whose departure from the Stavanager-based outfit was announced this week.
Viking did try and sign the former striker on loan three years ago when he was making a tentative return to action after a knee operation.
Other names on Viking's list are believed to be Molde coach Kjell Jonevret, Aage Hareide (who has been coaching in Sweden) and national team assistant coach Kim Wilde.
