Chelsea ponder swoop for Manchester City's Micah Richards - report

UEFA Under 21 European Championship :Micah Richards, England - Finland (PA)
Chelsea are weighing up a £12 million bid for Manchester City defender Micah Richards, according to a report in The People.

The right-back has been reportedly unsettled at Eastlands with rumours circulating that his manager Mark Hughes was unhappy with his attitude and commitment.

However Chelsea, whose FIFA transfer embargo was recently suspended pending judgement from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, could move for the England Under-21 international.

Richards would add competition for the right-back slot at Stamford Bridge and is versatile enough to provide cover at centre-back as well.

The 21-year-old has won 11 full caps for England, but has not featured for the Three Lions since Fabio Capello took over as national coach.

Aston Villa are also believed to be readying a January bid for Richards, according to the report.
