Cruyff lauds Frank de Boer after third title triumph

The Dutch legend believes the work the coach has done at Ajax has been integral in the Amsterdam side's recent success

Johan Cruyff has spoken of his admiration for Frank de Boer, who has recently led Ajax to their third consecutive Eredivisie title.

Cruyff, 66, believes the initial stages of De Boer’s time in charge have been successful but he believes things will improve further because the coach will demand it from his charges in the upcoming seasons.

"Frank will continue to give his all despite all the success he has enjoyed so far. He is still learning and in essence that is the Ajax way," he told Voetbal International.

"Success is wonderful, especially when you see the conditions under which it is established. But it can always be better. I love that the head coach instills this into his players."

The Barcelona legend went on to add that from what he can see, De Boer is a coach who still expects more from his side and has full control over them moving forward.

"He's doing really well. Frank always speaks in the first person plural, that doesn’t seem a crucial detail, but it is so important. It is not for nothing that everyone in Ajax plays for Frank and is ready if needed," he added.

"Frank is not on his own and the glory should be shared, but to the advancement of the club, he has surrounded himself with people who help him in the areas where it is needed."
