Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is in contention to retain his place as African Footballer of the Year.

The Ivorian won the honour in 2011 and is joined on the shortlist by compatriot and former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba and Newcastle forward Demba Ba.

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Alex Song and Marseille's Andre Ayew complete the shortlist of five.

For the Player of the Year in Africa category, the list has been be whittled to three from five nominees. These are Mohamed Aboutreika of Egypt, Zambia duo Rainford Kalaba and Stoppila Sunzu.

The winners for the year under review will be announced at the Caf-Glo awards gala at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra on December 20.
