The American international defender has joined the Spanish Liga Adelante side on loan, jumping ship from relegated Scottish giants Rangers
According to the official Racing Santander website, Carlos Bocanegra has completed a season-long loan move as one of three signings the club has made.
The well-travelled veteran joins midfielder Jorge Alonso and Serbian striker Adrija Kaludjerovic as the new arrivals, adding a wealth of experience to Racing’s backline.
Los Racinguistas will be playing in the Spanish second division as they were relegated last season. Despite this, the move from Rangers signifies a step up for the American, who would have otherwise been playing in the Scottish third division.
Californian Bocanegra has been linked with moves to the Premier League and Ligue 1, where he has played before, but opted to try his hand in Spain.
The former Fulham and Saint-Etienne man is a decorated international, having played 106 times for the United States, scoring 13 times and winning two Gold Cups.
