Anelka not in charge as Shanghai Shenhua claim win

Little known Frenchman Jean-Florent Ikwange Ibenge was in charge on Saturday's vital victory according to local reports and is expected to be Shenhua's new coach
Shanghai Shenhua's expected new coach Jean-Florent Ikwange Ibenge has guided the club to a 1-0 victory over bottom club Dalian Shide in China's Super League on Saturday.

Coach Jean Tigana was once again absent for the big-spending Chinese outfit, who had little known Frenchman Ibenge, last week named as an assistant, making the calls on the sidelines according to Sina Sports.

In Shanghai's previous match, a 1-0 loss to Tianjin Teda, star striker Nicolas Anelka had took charge of the side.

It is understood Tigana has been dismissed as Shenhua although the club hasn't made an official announcement as they seek to compromise on a severance payout.

In the meantime there has been confusion on his replacement with Anelka stepping up to a coaching role, however speculation was rife this week that assistant Ibenge would officially take over as boss.

Ibenge got off to the perfect start too, with Feng Renliang's 80th-minute headed goal from a Jiang Kun corner proving decisive.

The result helped struggling Shenhua move away from the drop zone and up to ninth on the table following just their second win of the season.

Ibenge has previously worked alongside Anelka during his playing days in France.
