Porto have announced they have resigned midfielder Lucho Gonzalez from Olympique de Marseille on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old playmaker returns to the Estadio do Dragao after leaving the Portuguese champions for Marseille in the summer of 2009 in an €18 million deal.
During his four-year spell at Porto, Lucho Gonzalez scored 31 goals in 111 Portuguese Liga matches, helping the club to four league trophies and two Portuguese Cups, among other titles.
The former River Plate midfielder, who has 51 Argentina caps to his name, has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Porto, with a €10m release clause inserted into the deal.
"Ever since I left, my idea had always been to return one day and, at this point of my career, this was the right thing to do," he told Porto Canal.
"This decision was made by me and Porto, who wanted my return. I am very happy, because this is what I wanted.
"I have been enjoying this moment since I arrived yesterday."
Lucho Gonzalez comes as a much-needed addition to Porto's midfield area, which was in dire need of reinforcement after Fernando Belluschi and Fredy Guarin left for Genoa and Inter, respectively.
