Santos coach Muricy Ramalho is confident that Ganso will not leave the club in January.
The 22-year-old was the subject of an €8 million bid from Porto last week which was immediately rejected by the Brazilian club's president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro, who labelled it "comical".
A representative of Ganso gave a strong indication that the midfielder was ready for a new challenge on Saturday, but Ramalho is hopeful that the Brazil international is going nowhere.
"I have been told that when a good offer comes, Santos will open negotiations, but Ganso is a player good enough to be in a World Cup," he told a news conference.
"It has to be a good offer. From my experience, I think he will not leave Santos now.
"He wants to show his talent to return to the Brazil national team."
Ganso has a €50m release clause attached to his contract with his current club, which runs out in 2015.
