Hollywood actor Idris Elba backs Barclays' 'My Space for Sport' campaign
The scheme is looking to offer improved sporting facilities to disadvantaged and under-privileged areas and has already helped people in 37 countries worldwide

Hollywood actor Idris Elba has given his support to Barclays’ ‘My Space for Sport’ campaign as they look to supply improved sporting facilities to the under-privileged across the world.
So far, the scheme has helped people in a number of countries, including Zambia, Zimbabwe, Spain, South Africa, China and India, while it has also affected over half a million people in the UK.
Elba, most notable for his roles in ‘The Wire’ and ‘Luther’, has been giving free time to the campaign and met students from London Fields, Hackney, a place he played football as a youth, before taking them to Arsenal's Barclays' Spaces for Sports site in Islington, where he was extremely impressed with the facilities.

Speaking about the Arsenal-affiliated complex, he said: “If I knew this site was linked to Arsenal Football Club I would definitely use it.
“This Barclays Spaces for Sports site is great, it's clean and safe and you can actually get a great game here. I love this facility.”
Barclays Spaces for Sports launched in 2004 and has since created over 200 sites in areas of the UK deemed disadvantaged and has spent over £37 million in the attempt to give the less fortunate across the world the opportunity to use quality sports facilities.
