Roberto Mancini is unsure whether Emmanuel Adebayor has a future at Manchester City after his loan spell ends at Tottenham

City allowed the striker to join White Hart Lane on a season-long loan last summer and has netted nine times to help Tottenham climb into third in the Premier League.

But with the trio of Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli, Mancini has admitted Adebayor may have to settle for long spells on the bench if he wishes to stay at Eastlands.

"Sometimes it is possible that you have a situation like this - you have good players but he wants to play always. This is difficult in a top team,” Mancini told the press.

"When you have three or four strong strikers you need to change.

"If you have one striker who needs to play always it is not easy."

With Carlos Tevez now out of favour and likely to leave the club this month, Mancini was asked whether he's have liked to have had Adebayor among his squad as cover.

"Probably, probably - but we didn't know with Carlos what would happen in Munich," he said.

"We had four strikers. I think with four strikers you can play one year.

"I am happy for Manu [Adebayor] because he is playing very well for Tottenham."

Adebayor will be ineligible to face his parent club on Sunday, as Spurs visit the league leaders at the Etihad Stadium.
