Ghana and Rennes hitman Asamoah Gyan pleased to be linked with a move to the Premier League
Young striker has impressed in South Africa
By Anthony Sciarrino
Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is happy to be linked with a move to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old, currently at French club Rennes, has garnered interest from West Ham United this summer.
A pair of positive performances at the World Cup in South Africa has thrust Gyan into the limelight and attracted interest from clubs across Europe.
Gyan has netted in each of Ghana’s matches at the World Cup and is pleased that his play in South Africa is helping gain the attention of clubs in England.
"I am flattered by interest from the Premier League, but I am concentrating on helping Ghana into the next round of the World Cup," Gyan told Sky Sports.
"It looks like we might be the only African nation with a genuine chance of reaching the next round."
Gyan, who scored 10 goals for Rennes this season, is adamant that he will not request an exit from the Ligue 1 club but is thrilled with links to play in the Premier League.
"It is simply the best league in the world and every player wants to be part of it.
"I have a contract with Rennes and they will have a say as well. They have been brilliant to me and if I do leave it will be on good terms."
