Barcelona have submitted a formal offer to Arsenal to sign Cesc Fabregas, the club's director general Joan Oliver has revealed.
Another step would therefore seem to have been taken towards the resolution of the long-running transfer saga involving the Spain international.

Oliver also confirmed that Fabregas himself wanted to leave the Emirates, whilst also suggesting that the decision ultimately lies with the Gunners.
"Everyone knows the player has expressed his wish to play for Barca and the club want him to come, but there is a third actor, which is Arsenal. And any agreement will depend on Arsenal's will," Oliver added.
Vice-president Rafael Yuste also spoke of the possible addition of Fabregas: "I'm hopeful he can sign for the club as soon as possible. I'm optimistic and it is clear that he, the family, players and its surroundings would give a very warm welcome.
"So we will not do anything to thwart the signing. We are not in any kind of hurry, but we will not pause either. Now the ball is in Arsenal's court and as we have an exceptional relationship with them, I am optimistic."
Reports on Wednesday indicated that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants Dmytro Chygrynskiy to move in the opposite direction should Fabregas depart for Camp Nou.
