It is 'more clear than ever' that Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will sign for Barcelona - Xavi

Experienced midfielder is confident Gunners skipper will join...

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has indicated that he is positive the Catalan club will land Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas.

The Blaugrana have long been credited with an interest in Fabregas, but Arsenal's determination to keep hold of their prized asset has prevented the deal from happening.

However, it appears the north London club are now willing to enter the negotiation table as coach Arsene Wenger reportedly looks to use the funds generated to sign Bordeaux star Yoann Gourcuff.

Quizzed on whether he was sure that Fabregas would sign for Barcelona, where the 23-year-old began his career as a trainee, Xavi told Sport: "Yes, certainly. And it also has to be like this.

"Two years ago I said Cesc would end up playing for Barcelona and now I have it more clear than ever.

"He has also expressed publicly that he wants to come to Barcelona and when a player wants to move to some place he ends up going. It is clear that Cesc will come to Barcelona."

After more than a year of speculation, David Villa finally completed a switch to Barcelona last month, and Xavi is confident the ex-Valencia striker will be happy at the Camp Nou.

"[His signing is] impressive. I have already told 'El Guaje' that he will get sick of scoring goals and that he will have a wonderful time," Xavi added.

The arrival of Villa at Barcelona will reportedly pave the way for the exit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from the club, but Xavi stated he does not know what the Swedish striker will do.

"The advice I would give him is that he is happy above all. If he is happy at Barcelona, perfect. If he is not, well then look for happiness elsewhere.

"But in any case, that I know of, he has not said anything about all the things that are being said about his future."
