Twenty-four teams for the first time at tournament...
UEFA have announced that France have been chosen as hosts for the European Championships in 2016.

"France has been selected as the host nation of UEFA EURO 2016, the first UEFA European Football Championship final round to feature 24 teams," a statement on UEFA's official website reads.

The choice was confirmed in an announcement at Espace Hippomène in Geneva, Switzerland by UEFA president Michel Platini.

The French bid would include 12 stadia in 11 cities: Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Nancy, Nice, Marseille, Paris (Stade de France and Parc des Princes), Saint-Etienne, Strasbourg and Toulouse.

Seven of those stadia will require major renovations and four will be newly built.
