Sunderland's Michael Turner says boss Steve Bruce has helped him improve

Defender delighted to have former Manchester United player as his manager
Michael Turner believes he has developed as a player under manager Steve Bruce.

Sunderland signed the defender from Hull City last summer and he helped the Black Cats to a 13th place finish in the Barclays Premier League.

Bruce won 12 honours as a player with Manchester United and Turner thinks he has benefited from working under an manager with such pedigree.

"It's been great for me to work under Steve Bruce," Turner said.

"He is a very experienced manager in the Premier League and as a player he had a great career with Man U in the position that I play in.

"You can't fail to pick things up from someone with as much experience as he has.
I'm sure that working with him every day in training has helped me out and long may it continue.

"It's a massive compliment to have someone like Steve Bruce rate you enough to want to sign you. He won every domestic trophy going and also captained Man Utd when they won European trophies, so he knows all about playing at the very top level.

"He obviously saw something he liked in me and that's something I can be proud of."
