Ex-Arsenal star Robert Pires ponders retirement after snubbing Philadelphia Union
Former Villarreal man looking for more culture for next challenge...
By Matt Monaghan
The Major League Soccer outfit had offered the ex-France international a contract after he was released by Villarreal this summer after a four-year spell. Previously, the 36-year old had lifted two Premier League titles and three FA Cups under Arsene Wenger's tutelage.
Speaking to L'Equipe, Pires insisted he was still eyeing a move to America but he will only join a team in a "beautiful town."
He said: “I do not want to be difficult, but left to take my family away, I’d rather do it in a beautiful city. Otherwise, I will put an end to my career."
