Champions League: Bayern Munich - Olympique Lyon, Jeremy Toulalan
Olympique Lyonnais will not allow star player Hugo Lloris or Jeremy Toulalan to leave Stade Gerland this summer, general manager Claude Puel has declared.

Goalkeeper Lloris and midfielder Toulalan have been linked regularly with moves away from the Rhone Valley, with a host of suitors in queue for each player. While Manchester United and Arsenal seem to lead the way for Lloris, Toulalan is courted primarily by Bayern Munich. Neither will be making a switch over the coming weeks, however.

“No matter what happens in the transfer market between now and the start of the season, ‘Toul’ and Hugo will be playing for us next season,” Puel explained, according to Ligue 1’s official website.

Lyon are also poised to make a handful of signings over the summer, with president Jean-Michel Aulas confessing that three players will join the club but seven will leave. OL will have £22 million [€25m]to spend over the summer and Girondins de Bordeaux ace Yoann Gourcuff is widely considered as a possibility.

“Gourcuff has everything you need to play at the highest level,” Puel continued.

“He’s incredibly fit, which is very important for the Champions League and all the games we’ll be asked to play. Technically he’s excellent and capable of making the difference in a match.

“He’s certainly a player we’re interested in, but I think it’s too early to talk about any potential transfer. But it would depend on our financial possibilities and I think he’d be too expensive for us.”

Gourcuff is said to cost around €20m this summer and with clubs all over the continent seemingly interested in the playmaker, OL will have their work cut out.

At No.20 in the Castrol Rankings Lloris the best rated player in France.
