Txiki Begiristain hopeful that Cesc Fabregas will leave Arsenal for Barcelona
But Gunners' wishes must be respected for the time being...
By Zack Wilson
Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain believes that Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas will definitely move to Camp Nou soon.
However, he has also stated the importance of respecting the fact that the midfielder is currently an Arsenal player and the wishes of the Gunners must be respected.
"It's great news that he wants to come here and I think that one day Cesc will have to come to Barca," Begiristain told his club's official website.
"But what matters is Arsenal and what their decision is.
"They think he is a very important player for them.
"We have to respect that.
"At times the wishes of players do not come true because they are under contract.
"That he says that he wants to come to Barca is a synonym that things are being done well here.
"I don't know when but I have the impression that he is a Barca (style) player and that he will enjoy it very much.
"I wish it was as soon as possible.
"But we have to respect Arsenal's wishes and the contract he has."
Fabregas, 23, is under contract at the Emirates until june 2014 but has recently hinted that he would like to return to the club where he was a youth player before he moved in 2003.
Arsenal have today confirmed to reporters that they have not receieved an offical approach from any club regarding the player.
