Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp delighted to hand Carlo Cudicini new deal
Gaffer hails custodian as a 'top professional'
By Adithya Ananth
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is overjoyed that goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has put pen to paper on a fresh one-year contract with the club.
The Italian stepped into White Hart Lane during the winter transfer period in 2009, but made only a handful of appearances before being involved in a serious motor accident last November.
There were reports of the 36-year-old having fractured both wrists and injuring his pelvis during the ordeal. But the former Chelsea shot-stopper underwent surgery and will be building up his fitness through the summer to be ready for the coming season.
"It is great to see Carlo out on the training pitch again after everything he has been through," Redknapp said on the club's official website.
"If anyone was going to come back from something like this it would be him.
"He is dedicated, a top professional through and through, and has been there every Saturday to support the side.
"He has been brought up in the game - his father [Fabio Cudicini] was a great goalkeeper at AC Milan and Carlo is exactly the same, a top-class person and professional."
