Barcelona playmaker Xavi: I'd love Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas to join us
Gunners captain could join the Spanish champions...
By Niall McGlone
Barcelona midfielder Xavi admits he would ‘love’ Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas to return to the Spanish giants this summer.
The Gunners skipper started his football career at the Nou Camp before joining Arsenal in the Premier League as a teenager.
The 23-year-old is a reported £40 million transfer target for Barca boss Pep Guardiola, and Xavi hopes he will be operating alongside his close friend next season.
"Yes, I'd love for him [Cesc Fabregas] to join us,” Xavi told The Sun.
"He's a very close friend of mine and a footballer with Barcelona's DNA."
Fabregas, who scored 19 times in all competitions this season, has refused to rule out a move to Barca in the summer.
"If I ever leave Arsenal it will be to play for Barcelona,” he was reported as saying in the Spanish press recently.
The lure of silverware could be enough to tempt the Gunners star away from the Emirates this summer, with Arsenal now five years without collecting a trophy.
