Wayne Rooney: Manchester United need to sign two 'big name players' this summer

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney thinks that the club needs to make two signings in the summer - one of them a striker.

A season that initially promised so much ended in disappointing fashion for the Red Devils. They went out of the Champions League to Bayern Munich, and failed to catch Chelsea in the Premier League.

Rooney, who scored a career best total of 34 goals this season, believes that additions need to be made to Sir Alex Ferguson's squad to avoid a repeat next season.

“If we can bring in two big name players it would give us a good chance of getting the league back,” he told The People.

"If you look at the team in 1999 that won the treble we had four forwards, all capable of scoring goals.

“Now there is me, Berbatov and Owen. There is Macheda too, but if we can get one more top forward in it would give us the right balance.”

Goal.com UK revealed on Wednesday that Manchester United are leading the race to sign CSKA Moscow winger Milos Krasic.
