Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp feels his team deserves to be in next season’s Champions League after a memorable season - just before a post-match celebratory dowsing from his elated team.
Speaking after Spurs 1-0 win over Manchester City at Eastlands, Redknapp said it’s a fantastic thing for the club to be in the position.
“It’s fantastic, and we’ve deserved it this season” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“We’ve played good football all season and again we did tonight. We went into the game with a positive approach, and had a go.
"Some said we needed to come here and shut-up shop but I didn’t want to do that and we had a go and got the result.”
Redknapp also reserved special praise for goal-scorer Peter Crouch.
He added “It was great to get the goal, because the longer it went the more you wonder but Crouchy came good and I thought he was terrific tonight and lead the line really well.”
Before he could say any more, Redknapp was drenched after a bucket of ice was tipped over him by his players as they begin celebrations that could go long into the night, with the North London side getting ready to embark on their first ever Champions League campaign.
