Aston Villa striker John Carew concedes that he would rather see the club reach new heights than seek personal glory through being the club's top goal scorer this term.

The Norwegian is currently level with Gabriel Agbonlahor on 16 goals for the season, and maintains that he would be just as happy if the 23-year-old were to pip him to become the 2009-10 leading scorer for Villa.

"I would be more than happy for Gabi to be top scorer," Carew told reporters. "I would be proud of him and if I can help him do it, that would be great.

"If I am playing well and helping others, I'm happy."

The former Olympique Lyonnais forward also maintained that he is not keen on setting himself any targets to achieve for the season.

"I never set targets," he added. "It's not something I think about."

Villa are currently in fifth place and continue their hunt to finish fourth in the Premier League with a fixture against fellow Champions League hopefuls Manchester City on Saturday.
