Johan Cruyff: Barcelona need to suffocate Inter on the pitch
Dutchman hits out at officials following first leg defeat...
By Cyrus C. Malek
In his weekly commentary in El Periodico, Barcelona president of honour Johan Cruyff has called for both players and fans to unite to "asphyxiate Inter on the pitch and in the stands," voicing his hope that "not a single Inter player will be able to control the ball comfortably."
Cruyff has billed Wednesday's Champions League match as a special encounter, believing his team has the capacity to overturn the 3-1 first leg deficit.
"The return leg of a semi-final is always special, but what happened in the first leg of this tie was unjust," writes Cruyff.
"I always defend referees, but there are missed calls and then there are missed calls. The error the assistant made in the first leg was impossible not to see."
Finally, Cruyff compelled Barca fans everywhere not to judge the side if they do not secure a passage to the final, emphasising that what matters more than the outcome of such matches is the sensation the team leaves with its fans in terms of work rate.
