Striker Roman Pavlyuchenko insists that he has changed his tune and hopes to stay with Tottenham Hotspur as the club battle to retain fourth place in the Premier League.

The Russian international looked likely to leave White Hart Lane after his relationship with Harry Redknapp hit a rough patch, but it appears that Pavlyuchenko has made amends with his manager and hopes to stay with the London club.

Pavlyuchenko, who came over from Spartak Moscow for a £12 million fee 18 months ago, has been a crucial player in Spurs’ run for the last Champions League spot, and it appears the Russian would like to stay.

"When the team wins and I am constantly playing the relations cannot be anything but good. Now I feel the manager's trust and do my best not to let him down,” Pavlyuchenko told The Mirror.

"I have dropped all my previous ideas about leaving Spurs in the summer and I am concentrated on one thought only - what we need to do to finish fourth.

"We won two important games, but it is not enough yet. The decisive points are going to be our two trips to Manchester - especially the second match against Manchester City."

Tottenham defeated Premier League leaders Chelsea 2-1 on Saturday to vault into fourth place, but Pavlyuchenko believes that the score could have been far more convincing in favour of Spurs.

"It was our best game this season. We looked stronger than the leaders of the Premier League. The score could have been 5-1 or 6-1 if we had converted just half of our scoring chances."
