thumbnail Hello,

Baggies secured promotion this weekend

West Bromwich Albion winger Chris Brunt is hoping that his club prove they can stay in the Premier League and shed their reputation as a yo-yo club.

The Baggies were relegated from the top flight last season after finishing in last place in a tight relegation battle, but the club have made an immediate return to the elite with promotion from the Championship.

Brunt scored West Brom's second goal in a 3-2 victory over Doncaster Rovers that ensured another crack at the Premier League.

The Northern Ireland international is happy that Albion have earned their fourth promotion to the top flight in the last nine years, and hopes that the club give manager Roberto Di Matteo money to strengthen the squad in the summer transfer window in order to help them stay up for more than one season.

“We want to stay in the Premier League this time," he told The Daily Star.

“This club has had the yo-yo tag for too long and we want to do something about that.

“There are a few people at the club with a point to prove after getting relegated last time. That is how we feel.

“When something goes against you that is how you should react, and we have to be confident this time around.

“There are players with a bit more experience than last time and they can pass that on to the lads who have never been there. We will need a few new faces to bolster the squad as well.”
