Liverpool have confirmed that striker Fernando Torres will see a specialist on Monday to assess a knee problem.

The 26-year-old missed Sunday’s 0-0 draw at home to Fulham due to the injury and it is unknown how long the Spaniard will be out of action for.

Manager Rafael Benitez told reporters after the game: "He has a problem with his knee. He's gone to see a specialist and we are waiting for news.

"We don't know yet. It depends on what the specialist says tomorrow. He had a problem before and we were trying to protect him."

Torres has been in fine form this year, scoring 22 goals for the club, despite recurring injuries throughout the season.
