Self Portraits
Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Cesc Fabregas, Rio Ferdinand, Didier Drogba, Carlos Tevez and Ryan Giggs are amongst a host of Premier League stars who have put pen to paper recently in a good cause.

Over 40 players and managers have drawn self-portraits that will be published in a leather-bound book, which will then be auctioned off for the benefit of the Nordoff Robbins charity at The Football Extravaganza, the world's longest running annual charity event.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United legend Eric Cantona will also add their self-portaits to the book soon, as Ferguson is in line to present Cantona with the 'Legend of Football' award handed out every year at The Football Extravaganza.

Jo Carter, director of fund rainsing at Nordoff Robbins, a charity which uses music to deliver positive change and therpeutic treatment to thousands of youngsters and adults in need, said: "All proceeds raised will go towards funding the vital work of Nordoff Robbins, who deliver over 45,000 sessions every year.

"Everyone responds to music. It has a unique power which Nordoff Robbins harnesses with all its emotion, energy, resonance and rhythm to reach children and adults whose lives are constrained by illness, disability, trauma or exclusion."

Professional graphologist Emma Bache, meanhile, offered her thoughts on the efforts of some of the star's self-potraits.

Wayne Rooney

"His art might not be something he’s well known for but the way that he’s done his face is Picasso-esque. Looking at his picture, it has a very large head and prominent eyes and mouth. Interestingly he has used a blue pen for his eyes and a red pen for his mouth, the latter suggesting a sensuality."

Steven Gerrard

"This is quite a big figure with a disproportionately long neck, it’s almost as if he wants to peer over a wall, he wants to see what’s going on all the time and he’s very much an observer and a larger than life character."

Didier Drogba

"A detailed drawing that is honest, open and smiling out to the world. This is someone who feels as if he’s nothing to hide.”
