thumbnail Hello,

Gunners will continue to press United...

Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia reckons his team have the character and confidence to push Manchester United all the way in the race for the Premier League title.

After a 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday, the north London side lie second in the table just two points behind Manchester United and the 32-year-old shot-stopper is confident they can still overhaul their rivals.

"This team is full of confidence, character, spirit and fight," Almunia told Arsenal's official website.

"It was crucial to win and shows that Arsenal are at the top of the table to fight for the league.

"We will continue to put pressure on them until the end of the season, right up until we have the last possibility to win the league - that is all we can do."

Manager Arsene Wenger praised his goalkeeper, who has endured an up-and-down season, for his performance at the weekend and hopes it is an example of what is still to come.

"In the last two months, Almunia has been outstanding, and has come back to his top form. You have to give him credit," the Gunners boss said.

"He kept us in the game on Saturday, and when every player starts to be decisive at some moment in the game, that is a good sign."
