Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti declares Manchester United title favourites
Italian believes his team will have hard time catching the Red Devils
By Anthony Sciarrino
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has asserted that Manchester United are the favourites to win the Premier League after the Blues' 1-1 draw with Blackburn on Sunday.
Ancelotti’s team are sitting in third place, which marks the first time Chelsea has been outside the top two on the Premier League standings this season.
The draw, combined with victories to Arsenal and Manchester United this weekend, leaves Chelsea two points behind the Gunners and four adrift of United.
And Ancelotti believes that his team will have a hard time catching the Red Devils and winning the championship this season.
“Manchester United are top of the league so are now the favourites,” Ancelotti told the Daily Star.
“It will be more difficult now to win the title, but it is not impossible.
“This is not an easy moment for us, but we must not lose our confidence.”
With Sunday’s result coming five days after being ousted from the Champions League by Inter Milan, Ancelotti knows their game against Portsmouth on Wednesday is a must win if Chelsea are to compete for the title.
“Now we are third, it means we have to run more.
“We need to regain our momentum.
“But I still think we can do it although we must win our next game."
