The representative of Catania forward Jorge Martinez has rushed to clarify his previous statements that ‘El Malaka’ had opened talks with English side Manchester City over a summer switch to Eastlands.

“There are no negotiations underway,” agent Daniel Delgado told itasportpress.it on Thursday morning.

“My words were misinterpreted because I simply said that I had come to know of interest from Man City by reading the papers.

“But I confirm I have not started negotiations, I’ve never talked to the directors of the English club.

“Perhaps it could happen in the future but there is nothing concrete at the moment regarding Martinez.”

Martinez is ranked No.331 in the Castrol Rankings, higher than any current Manchester City midfielder. Shaun Wright-Phillips is the highest ranked of Roberto Martinez's men, at No.342 overall.
