Former Chelsea coach Brendan Rodgers has faith in Stamford Bridge youngsters

New generation of stars on verge of emerging...

While Chelsea are picking up the pieces following the Champions League exit at the hands of Inter, the club can look forward to a bright future thanks to a myriad of fine young players coming through, according to former youth team coach Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers, who worked under Jose Mourinho as the Blues' youth team boss from 2004 until 2006, and then as the reserve manager for a further two years, reckons fans should not be concerned about the club's ageing squad.

"There's some terrific talents there," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's right that in that group there's some great players and they'll go to the World Cup this year and they'll do very well.

"But I would think over the next couple of seasons they'll look at just drip-feeding some young players in there.

"There's some great talents there. Jeffrey Bruma, a young player who's played in the first team, he's done very well.

"There's Fabio Borini plus you've got other young players that are out on loan as well like Ryan Bertrand at Reading and Jack Cork [on loan at Burnley].

"So there's definitely a lot of young talent there. They've done a great job."
