Sunderland consider selling naming rights to Stadium of Light
Name change in line before 2018 World Cup?
By Joe Whitbread
The move would mirror fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal, Wigan, Bolton and Stoke, who have all done the same.
"The naming rights issue is an extremely emotive thing and it would only be done if it was completely right for the business," Walton said according to Press Association Sport.
"It doesn't necessarily carry the same emotion because it's a relatively new stadium.
"We would only do it if it worked and it didn't take anything away. There have been a couple of things in that kind of area we have been looking at."
The 49,000-seater stadium, opened in 1997, has been selected as a venue for England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
