Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has revealed he is nearing an agreement to sign a new contract with the Merseyside club.

The Spaniard has been negotiating the terms of a new long-term deal for some time, and now believes that something will be confirmed in the near future.

"I am really close," Reina said, according to the club's official website.

"You will find out more in about a month or so.

"I am happy here, I think the club is happy with me too and I see no problem at all in signing a new deal. It is a matter of time and I will sort it out in a few weeks. We are close."

Reina has been one of Liverpool's best performers in a disappointing campaign, establishing himself as one of the finest shot-stoppers in the Premier League.
