Ray Parlour backs Theo Walcott to shine for Arsenal
Starlet shouldn't be judged on one injury-wrecked season...
By Zack Wilson
Questions have been asked in some quarters recently as to just how good Walcott actually is, with some observers asserting that the youngster's knowledge of the game was sparse.
But Parlour insists that the England man should not be judged on one season and still has plenty of time in which to develop into the finished article.
"Players like Theo Walcott have massive potential," the ex-Gunner told Arsenal's official website.
"I would not say he has had a bad season it is just that he has not had a run in the team.
"Against Burnley, he was brilliant, absolutely fantastic. But if you are going to be a big player you need to do that week in week out at a consistent level.
"Theo will do that once he gets his injuries sorted out. Once he does that he can be a massive player for Arsenal."
And Parlour maintains that there is much more to Walcott than just his pace, with his end product comparable to that of David Beckham.
"The ball he put over at the start of the second half at Hull City was like Beckham in his prime," Parlour added.
"But Theo has got pace as well. He has just got to get injury free now and get a run in the team."
