Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will not face disciplinary action for clash with Portsmouth's Michael Brown
Midfielder in the clear...
By James Daly
Gerrard appeared to strike Brown with his arm forcing the Pompey midfielder into a heap on the floor, clutching his face, during the 4-1 win for the Reds.
Referee Stuart Attwell decided to take no action during the game and the FA confirmed they would do the same, meaning Gerrard escapes a possible three-match ban.
It is the second time in a week the Liverpool talisman has been in the news for the wrong reasons, after appearing to make a two-fingered gesture at referee Andre Marriner during the 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic.
Again, Gerrard was not punished for the apparent gesture, and will be keen to concentrate on Liverpool's Europe League clash with Lille on Thursday evening.
