Roque Santa Cruz facing 'terrible battle' to get into Roberto Mancini's Manchester City team
Competition for places is fierce at Eastlands...
By Zack Wilson
With the likes of Carlos Tevez and Craig Bellamy in such good form this season, and with Emmanuel Adebayor also contributing goals, the Paraguayan has struggled for a place even when fit.
His injury problems may be abating now, but there are no guarantees that he will be handed a starting role by Mancini
"Right now I'm just trying to get to 100 per cent," he told Sky Sports News.
"It's just a bit sad that it's coming at the time the season is running off.
"So in the other way also the good games are just coming, the decisive ones. I'm expecting to bring my best football to this period."
As for seeing the other forwards at the club perform so well, Santa Cruz may be personally disappointed, but he is delighted from a team standpoint.
"It didn't help also that they are doing so good for me to play," he added.
"But in terms of what we want for the club, of course I'm very happy to see Tevez scoring every game. I'm very pleased to see Adebayor doing well and I want him to keep going that way so that the team is as successful as we want it to be.
"They are just fantastic players and of course it is a terrible battle just to see who is going to play, and it's going to stay that way until the end of the season."
