Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle won't predict how many points are needed for Premier League safety

Trotters' manager just taking one game at a time

Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle believes it is "folly" to join in the tradition of forecasting the number of points required to avoid relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.

Coyle has elevated the Trotters into a seemingly comfortable position at 14th in the division, yet will continue to focus on one game at a time in order to augment the club's 29-point tally - particularly in the wake of Bolton's 4-0 loss to Sunderland on Tuesday night.

"I'm not being evasive, but I really do just look to the next game," he said, evading the request for a prediction put to him by the official website of the Premier League.

"I think it's folly to look too far ahead and think that amount of points will keep you safe or won't.

"You won't know that until the last game of the season, so what we do is concentrate on the old cliche - it's one game at a time, it really is.

"What we do know is that game by game, if we do pick up points, that will serve our purpose well."
