West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola: 'Fulham can knock Juventus out of the Europa League'
Former Chelsea star feels that the London side can upset the Italians
By Anthony Sciarrino
Former Italian international and current West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola believes that Fulham can dispatch Juventus from the Europa League.
The two teams will play the first leg of their round of 16 tie on Thursday at Turin’s Stadio Olimpico and the London side will look to upset Juventus and demonstrate the Premier League’s superiority over Serie A.
Juventus would not have expected to be playing in the Europa League at the beginning of the season, but the Italian giants, who have won the league title a record 27 times, have struggled mightily this year, sitting in fifth place in Serie A.
Zola asserts that Fulham have a good chance at moving on to the last eight, especially with how much more quality the Premier League has compared to Serie A at the moment.
"I think it will be very close and Fulham have got a chance even against a famous club like Juventus," Zola told The Mirror.
"That tells you that the Premier League is more competitive than Serie A. It is not that there are no good teams in Italy - there are.
“On paper they are very good. But right now the Premier league has got a different speed and different rhythm and everyone is sharper.”
