Football Association fully support Pompey's plight...

Portsmouth's administrator, Andrew Andronikou, has been assured by the Football Association that the club will not be kicked out of this season's FA Cup.

The Fratton Park outfit reached the semi-finals of the competition on Saturday when they dumped out Birmingham City although question marks had been raised as to whether they would be allowed to continue in the competition.

FA rules state that clubs in administration will have their participation in the competition assessed, although Andronikou insists the FA will allow Portsmouth to complete their cup run to its natural conclusion.

"The FA are fully supportive of us and they want us to succeed and get to the other end," he said, as quoted by Press Association Sport.

"There is no chance of us being kicked out of the FA Cup."

If Portsmouth manage to gain qualification into next season’s Europa League, however, their financial status is likely to prevent them from taking part due to not being able to obtain the necessary UEFA club licence.

Andronikou did not wish to be drawn into discussing next season, however, preferring to focus on the present.

"Let's get into Europe first and then worry about the club licence," he added.
