Ashley Young believes Aston Villa are good enough and experienced enough to take their current good form through to the end of the season.

The Birmingham outfit's Champipons League push floundered this time last season, as they failed to win a game in March.

Martin O'Neill tasted victory in March for the first time as Villa boss with the weekend's 4-2 FA Cup victory over Reading, and Young believes that result is a sign of things to come.

"Last season is last season. That has been put to bed now. We are looking forward and concentrating on things this season," Young said, according to The Birmingham Post.

"We had a great cup run and got to the League Cup final. It was disappointing to lose but now we are in another semi-final going back to Wembley and we are doing well in the league."

And the winger hopes the memory of last year's anti-climax only helps his team to make the most of the remainder of this campaign.

"You can learn from last season. You can always learn from things that don't go so well," the 24-year-old said.

"It is a massive couple of months and fingers crossed it does go the right way, the way we want it to go."

After the disappointing defeat to Manchester United in the League Cup final, Young desperately wants to get back to Wembley and taste victory this time around.

"We are still in the mix in the league with a chance of finishing higher than last season and any domestic final is a fantastic one," he added.

"We've achieved one and experienced the disappointment of losing and now you want to get back there and get the winners' medal you deserve."
