Frank Lampard believes that it is time that match attendees curtail their abuse of Chelsea skipper John Terry, and insists that his side will ignore the barracking and "play and move on".

Terry was caught in the middle of a media storm following revelations about his personal life, and match-goers have consequently taken to giving the defender stick for incidents that took place off the pitch such off-field incidents.

"I’m not going to say that it’s time for the abuse to stop, but it’s quite boring to keep dwelling on it," said Lampard, according to The Daily Express.

"We will play and move on. That is the best answer."

The midfielder turned his attention to the prospect of successfully defending the FA Cup, and how much of an impact such a triumph would have on Terry.

"Winning the FA Cup this year will mean the same as it always has done for John," he added. "You want to look back on your career having won trophies."

Carlo Ancelotti's charges will be up against a wounded Aston Villa side looking to win the cup competition, to atone for its League Cup final defeat to Manchester United.

"Villa are a good team, we all know that now," Lampard said.

"They have a few players in the England squad and have great spirit and quality. After the disappointment of losing their League Cup final, they will want to go back to Wembley and win something, so it will be tough."
