Manchester United supporters set to launch massive ownership protest
Thousands of fans will defiantly miss the start United's crucial Champions League game
By Anthony Sciarrino
In a massive protest towards the current owners, the Glazer family, Manchester United fans are preparing to boycott the first ten minutes of their Champions League second leg match with AC Milan on Tuesday.
According to the Daily Mail, there is a plan in place for as many as 10,000 fans to remain outside Old Trafford and stage a fervent protest of the current owners while the crunch clash with Milan begins inside the stadium.
Duncan Drasdo, the chief of MUST, claimed that his organisation has not been involved with planning this remonstration; however, nor will they interfere with it.
“We're not co-ordinating anything but we're not against it either,” said Drasdo.
“People can make up their own minds over how to express themselves but we're not pushing it at the moment. We have other priorities.
“We're more interested in participation in the internet campaign. The green and gold is a better illustration of the campaign for change.”
With the Red Devils attempting to hold onto a 3-2 lead they earned in the first leg at the San Siro, the fans protest shows how serious they are in replacing American owner Malcolm Glazer.
“This is a long time in the making. The idea got put forward a few weeks ago but, in reality, we have been preparing something like this for months,” said one member of the now 124,000 strong MUST.
'Millions of people - maybe even billions - will watch this match and, when they see thousands of empty seats, it will send a message out to the Glazer family.
“I've heard there could be 10,000 involved in this and, although some will return to their seats for most of the match, there could be a large percentage of people who will stay away in protest.”
