Portsmouth striker Frederic Piquionne says he wants to extend his stay in England next season, even if it is not at Fratton Park.

The 31-year-old is on loan from Lyon but is unlikely to stay at Pompey beyond this season due to the club’s financial problems.

Piquionne scored both goals in Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Birmingham City and is hoping to play in England next year.

"I am 31 yet I have never experienced an atmosphere like that during and after a match," he told Sky Sports.

"We have lost a lot of matches this season and endured many problems. Yet still the supporters are cheering and applauding us.

"Now I hope they love me because the last few years in France have not been great for me. I have never won a trophy before in my career and maybe that can change.

"Whatever happens, I want to stay in England and I am doing all I can to find a club here."

Piquionne has impressed at Fratton Park this season, scoring ten goals in 33 appearances.
