Manchester City star Patrick Vieira: I'd rather live in England than Italy or France
Midfielder can 'blend in' near Manchester...
By Zack Wilson
Now living in Cheshire near Manchester, Vieira is delighted to be back in the relaxed atmosphere that England provides, without the seemingly constant pressure of life as a footballer elsewhere in Europe.
"In our job, I think England is maybe the easiest place where you can live and blend in. We can go to the market, go to the movies, we can go for a drink and nobody bothers us," the Frenchman told City's official website.
"England is a country where we can have a normal life. I've found England is better than France or Italy, and from talking to other players it's better than Spain. This is the place to live!
"We've not been shopping but we've been looking around, and people have been really nice to us, the United fans as well as City fans. We've had no problem - nobody has shouted at me yet!
"We've been in restaurants and talked about the game with City supporters there. The fans here love the game. They love their team, of course, but overall I think they love the game."
And even aspects of the local cuisine are being enjoyed by the former Arsenal star.
I do like the big English breakfast, on a Sunday morning when we have the day off," he explained.
"But no black pudding. And no brown sauce - I like the English breakfast, but a simple one!"
