Birmingham City can now seek more than just Premier League survival - Roger Johnson
Only way is up, for Blues defender
By Alan Dawson
Birmingham currently lie eighth, ahead of Europa League participants Fulham and Everton, and are already all but certain of playing Premier League football again next season.
"The 40 points milestone was the main thing we wanted to get to and we finally got there," Johnson told the club's official website. "We hit a little bit of a rough patch in the previous games where we were conceding goals, so it was lovely to get back to a clean sheet against Wigan.
"Hopefully we can relax now and get back to how we were playing. It's been a bit scrappy the last couple of weeks, but we'll look to kick on now.
"With us more or less safe we certainly won't be looking below us, we'll be looking above."
Johnson continued by expressing that a fundamental part of City's exemplary rear-guard has been England goalkeeping hopeful Joe Hart.
"The gaffer [Alex McLeish] has been lucky with injuries and we've had a settled back four this season. We look solid especially with Joe in goal," said Johnson.
"For me he's England's number one and should play over there in South Africa.
"He's very good, a hard worker, trains as he plays and hates conceding. He's got to be up there in the top two choices for Fabio Capello."
