Europa League: Jack Rodwell, Everton v SK Sigma (PA)
The long-term injury to imposing midfielder Marouane Fellaini will be used as a window of opportunity for Jack Rodwell to further enhance his reputation as a prodigiously-talented youngster, according to the Everton midfielder.

The academy product's cameo role during the 3-1 win over Manchester United again put Rodwell in the limelight as it was his stunning solo goal that secured maximum points for David Moyes' side.

The versatile teenager has stated that, despite the unfortunate timing of Fellaini's injury, it would be foolish of him not to capitalise on his absence.

"Sometimes you get your chances from other people's injuries, which is unfortunate for them but you've got to take that chance," te told the official website of the Premier League.

"I've been working hard in training, keeping my head down and hopefully I'll get a run in the back end of the season.

"I've been out for six weeks and it was really frustrating," he added.

"It's hard to get back in the team now but I'm focused and that's what I intend to do."
