Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand withdraws appeal against extra one-match ban
Defender accepts four-game suspension...
By Zack Wilson
The United centre-back was handed an original three-game suspension folllowing an incident involving Hull City's Craig Fagan in the recent game at Old Trafford.
He appealed that decision and the FA increased the ban to four games after deeming that that appeal was frivolous.
He now avoids receiving an additional ban which would have taken his total suspension to five matches and will be available for the League Cup final against Aston Villa on February 28.
