Burnley manager Brian Laws delighted with impact of newcomers
Clarets boss pleased with new signings…
By Danny Hart
New signing Danny Fox set up the first goal for loan signing David Nugent before scoring a superb free kick himself to seal the victory for the Clarets.
Another of Laws’ January signings, Leon Cort, impressed on Saturday, clearing off the line when Benni McCarthy looked certain to score.
"Bringing in new players gives everyone a lift and especially when you put in a performance like that," Laws told Sky Sports News.
"We had to freshen things up and hopefully that gives the opposition something else to think about.
"You couldn't ask for a better debut than Fox, who not only scored a goal but made a goal, and Cort cleared one off the line.
"But it was not just about them, it was a team effort and everyone was working hard."
Laws was delighted to record his first Premier League win and hopes his side can provide more results throughout the season to steer clear of relegation.
"It's amazing that I have had so many games in the Championship and the Football League and it has taken some 750 games to get my first win in the Premier League," he added.
"It is really a fantastic feeling but I am more pleased for the supporters and the players because they have worked so hard to achieve that."
